Early Learning Programs

Cranston Public Schools offers a variety of programs for children ages 3-5 with and without disabilities. We support all children in 6 public school buildings, 2 Head Start programs and many community programs in Cranston. We offer a variety of service delivery options such as Itinerant Early Childhood Special Education (IECSE) Service Delivery Model, walk in services, integrated classrooms and small structured classrooms. For students with IEPs, (Individualized Educational Program) placement location and program services are determined by the Special Education IEP Team (see RIDE and Policy Statement on Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in Early Childhood Programs. Our Integrated Preschool classrooms are comprised of a population of students with identified needs addressed in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) as well as more children that do not have an identified disability.

Cranston residents have the opportunity to register at the ECC and get on the wait list for an opportunity for their child to access a high quality - low cost program in several elementary school buildings ($50.00 a week for a 1/2 day program).

While we try to accommodate family's requests we cannot guarantee availability at any location. Children without IEP's are given spots on a "first come first serve" basis. If a spot is not immediately available, you can have your child placed on a waiting list. As a spot becomes available you will be contacted.

Cranston also offers an opportunity for families of 4 year old's to participate in a lottery for full day classroom State Pre-K Program at Arlington Elementary School as well as other locations in Cranston.

If you have questions about registering your child for a classroom, classroom availability or general inquiries, please contact our program secretary, Lucille Gustafson at 401-270-8057
